At the end of March, we were over the moon when our sold-out spring concert featuring the Bach Mass in B Minor was a huge success. Our supporters were absolutely thrilled with our performance, and they were just as generous with that support when it came to our end-of-concert charity collection. We decided to help The Choir with No Name, a fantastic charity that runs choirs and creates joyful singing communities for people affected by homelessness and marginalisation across the UK.
NLC’s Musical Director, Murray Hipkin, was the driving force behind the fundraiser, inspired by the charity’s 100 heroes campaign, a March fundraising appeal to find “heroes” to support their work in the UK, including projects in London. Since the pandemic, we’ve all been living in a cashless world, so we had to get creative when it came to the collection of donations. We set up QR codes, digital points of sale, and even a Just Giving page to supplement the traditional collection bucket at the door.
Our extended choir family didn’t let us down as we raised an incredible £1,420.25!
Hannah Crawford, Development Manager at The Choir with No Name said “Your incredible donation will help keep our choirs singing, and enable us to keep providing a warm, safe, inclusive and musical space for people experiencing homelessness.”
